Nightcrawler (2014)
I took a break last night from reading Raymond Chandler's 'The High Window' which might explain why I chose to watch 'Nightcrawler'. I liken the two because they are examples of a narrow genre that when done well gives me the same satisfaction as delivered by Robert Parker's novels and Quentin Tarantino's films. It doesn't hurt to have Jake Gyllenhaal as your main character, an actor, incomparable, when playing the obsessed, empty or soulless man (see also 'Everest'). I give Nightcrawler an A-. I noticed that Gyllenhaal was a producer on the film; I hope he continues to facilitate more films (of whatever scope) of such aimed execution.
